Favicon preview
Transparency is preserved. Animated WebP becomes a static ICO using its first frame.
Simple shapes stay readable at 16 px. Fine text and photographs can lose detail.
Convert WebP to a multi-size ICO
Choose a WebP image to convert it immediately. The default ICO contains 16, 32 and 48 px images. Add up to 256 px for a Windows icon, or select just one size. Download once; all selected images live inside the same file.
Fit keeps the whole source without distortion. Center crop fills the square and trims the edges. Both preserve transparent pixels in the source.
Use your WebP image as a favicon
Place the downloaded file at your website root, then add this inside the HTML head:
<link rel="icon" href="/favicon.ico" sizes="any">Need Apple and Android icons too? Use the full favicon pack generator.
WebP to ICO conversion questions
Does an animated WebP stay animated?
No. ICO output is static. This converter uses the first frame, so pick a source whose opening frame is a useful icon.
Why not use the WebP directly?
ICO gives you a dedicated icon file containing multiple resolutions and a conventional favicon.ico fallback. Renaming a .webp file to .ico does not convert its contents.
What are the limits?
Up to 10 MB and 16 megapixels. Corrupt images and files that are not actually WebP are rejected. For a PNG source, use PNG to ICO; for a photograph saved as JPEG, use JPG to ICO.
