Three kinds of SVG
An ICO is made of pixels. An SVG can hold shapes or a picture. Pick the type that fits what you will do with the file.

How to convert ICO to SVG
- Choose or drop an ICO. The largest image inside is selected.
- Keep Traced for smooth shapes. The color count is detected from the icon; move the slider to merge or restore colors.
- Compare both previews, then download the SVG or copy its code.
Use the SVG as a favicon
Add the SVG and keep favicon.ico for browsers that ignore SVG icons:

ICO to SVG questions
Is the traced SVG a real vector?
Yes. Tracing follows the edges of each color area and writes them as curves and lines. The file contains no bitmap, so it stays sharp at any size and opens as editable paths in Figma, Illustrator or Inkscape.
Why do traced edges look clean instead of jagged?
Before tracing, the image is smoothly enlarged and matched to the icon's own flat colors. The soft in-between pixels along edges are assigned to the nearest real color, so you get crisp shapes rather than thin halo bands.
Why does a 16 px icon trace roughly?
It has very few pixels to describe each curve. Choose the largest image in the ICO, or use Pixel mode to keep the icon exactly as drawn.
Is my ICO uploaded?
No. Decoding and tracing run in your browser, so the icon never leaves your device.
How do I turn the SVG back into an ICO?
Use SVG to ICO, or create a full set with the favicon generator. To get the original pixels instead, try ICO to PNG. Making a Mac app icon? Convert ICO to ICNS.
